Refugee self-reliance policy platform
Self-Reliance (de jure) Policy Snapshot
The Self-Reliance (de jure) Policy Snapshot captures the policy environments of the top refugee-hosting countries regarding opportunities and barriers for self-reliance achievement. The six indicators depicted below align with the areas associated with self-reliance achievement as defined by the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR) and the Refugee Self-Reliance Initiative collaborative development process.
Based on our review of accessible refugee policy, policies were graded on a scale of 1 to 3. A policy score of 1 for a given self-reliance indicator (Right to Work, Freedom of Movement, and so on) reflects no formal policy to address self-reliance; at 3, at least one policy exists to fully support the indicator. A score of 2 indicates incomplete policy access for a given self-reliance indicator. For example, a score of 2 for Right to Health could indicate policy access for maternal healthcare only, with restricted access to general healthcare. The refugee policy score is calculated by tallying the scores from the six self-reliance indicators. The platform also features tracking of GCR pledges made by top refugee-hosting countries and their progress towards ongoing self-reliance pledges.
